Megacon 2008.

So Megacon was this past weekend. I took a few photos, and there were good costumes this year; although few and far between. After waiting in line over two hours to get tickets, I enjoyed that which was dee Megaconvention…

Yes, this is a line for tickets. I’m in here somewhere, I’d imagine.

This kid had the best costume out of all his lame friends he was with. I walked up and tapped him on the shoulder & asked to take a photo with him. I bet his friends wish they hadn’t made such crappy costumes.

Best Princess Zelda. Evar.

There were a LOT of Tank Girls this year. When I did my Tank costume in 2004/2006, no one knew who the hell I was. And there were certainly NO doubles of Tankie. This year, probably due to the release of the new comics, everyone is all up in that shizz. I saw some girl buying ALL the Tank novels in one stack. Go tank! PS – The girl up on the left totally has this round.

Sweetass 501st TIE-fighter pilot.

Me n’Steve.

Pretty good use of body paint, although the costume quality was eh.

Really good Darth Revan costume. My favorite at the con besides…

DR. ROCKSO, THE ROCK-N’-ROLL CLOWN!

I really like this one, the shading and craftmanship are really good… if he made it.

Excellent Midna costume from Twilight Princess.

Lego Darth Vader!

This Jedi Master looked so chill so I snagged a photo with him. Little does he realize I’m a Sith in training.

Why yes, that beltbuckle was carved from a block of cherry wood and painted, then given a staining treatment. Why do you ask? Additionally, the leather thigh holsters were made from leather belts.

Rope a compass. I ain’t no poseur tomb raider! The backpack’s original straps were more of a messenger bag setup, so we tore them off, then sewed them back in a more appropriate place.

Most delicious costume ever.

This cereal… is a TRAP!

Foxy from “Drawn Together”.

Totally wicked Gears of War costumes!

A really ripped, hot Spartan.

Jesus saw the Yaoui and had to come bust some ass.

In plainclothes on Sunday with a Wal-Mart Chewbacca.

Really good Ash costume.

There were a few other Tomb Raiders there, but one had hairy man arms, and the other had squirt guns and cheesy shoes. That’s all I have to say about that subject.

Loot-wise, I got a rather large autographed photograph from 2001: A Space Odyssey featuring Dave Bowman (Keir Dullea) & Frank Poole (Gary Lockwood) talking in the pod. A rare treasure, indeed.

I picked up a caricature of me Matty, which I’ll post with the other random Megacon photos I didn’t post here. I also got the latest Owly installment, which has, unbeknownst to me, become quite a phenomenon. I didn’t spend a lot of money this year because of the insane amounts of anime.

Bike photos to come, so sit tight!

  1. Wow…lots of these apply to me. My sister and I still do that Captain Planet thing (we put our class rings together; we’re such dorks).

And I ALWAYS say “NOT!” and “Psych!” at the end of sentences. So fun.

  2. I love it! Man, that rockso guy had some balls to dress in that costume. OY. I’m glad you explained who half of them are because I wouldn’t have known. I don’t have much geek cred nowadays. Also, bald guy in the Gears of War costume? Oh nom nom. Can I haz? Yeah thanks.

    • Cottage Cheesy.

I saw him and just ran up and threw my arms around him, yelling, “DR ROCKSO! And he said “Hey there little lady… I do coCAINE!!!!!!” & after I said thanks he leaned in and whispered “I do cocaine.”

      Highlarious.

      No geek cred? n00b…

      • Hahahahaha that’s great. Well the thing is – I’m geeky in many respects, but not insofar as pop culture stuff goes. I was way into D&D and I’m more or less versed in computer nerdery, but I’m not into sci-fi or anime πŸ™‚
