I have been a member of the United States Air Force two years today! I am so proud to be a part of the world’s most prolific air power, and thankful for the opportunities given to me as a professional, a woman, and a life long learner. The Air Force has developed my formerly hidden technical abilities and given me the places to shine. I only hope I can use this knowledge to make our military the best prepared for anything that can and will happen. From a waitress to cabinet maker, to a bachelors in design to shoe salesperson, to professional military aviator: I’ve come a long way! Cheers to all who work hard for their successes! Be proud!
Two years ago today I was driving from enlisted military inprocessing in Florida that started at 0445 to Officer Training School in Montgomery, Alabama. I would spend three months there before receiving my commission as second lieutenant. From there, I completed Initial Flight Training in Colorado, then moved to San Antonio, Texas to complete ten months of navigator training. Last December I received my wings. I then headed off to Survival and Resistance school in Spokane, Washington for a month before I attended a week of water survival school in Pensacola, Florida. The next week, I moved to Shreveport, Louisiana, where I am currently getting qualified as a navigator and bombardier in the B-52. It certainly has never been a dull moment this past two years!
