Absolutely Outraged.

If you haven’t seen it yet: A HREF=”http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yVPhFLiDtzk” target=”_blank”>Obama Celebrity Pledge

“I, Brenna Marie Martin, having been appointed a 2nd lieutenant in the United States Air Force, do solemnly swear that I will support and defend the Constitution of the United States against all enemies, foreign and domestic; that I will bear true faith and allegiance to the same; that I take this obligation freely, without any mental reservation or purpose of evasion, and that I will well and faithfully discharge the duties of the office upon which I am about to enter, so help me God.”

Let’s look at why we swear to the Constitution and not a man.

– The Constitution is an set of ideals, beliefs and freedoms that we are willing to die to defend. It is the foundation of our government.
– Pledging to a man is foolhardy weak, as previously seen in Nazi Germany:
“I swear by God this sacred oath that I shall render unconditional obedience to Adolf Hitler, the leader of the German state and people, supreme commander of the armed forces, and that I shall at all times be ready, as a brave soldier, to give my life for this oath.”

What happens when Adolf dies or is killed? What good does that oath do you if everything you swear to and believe doesn’t exist anymore? Ideas are bulletproof.

The president is a servant of the people. Why on Earth are we pledging to him?

Let’s save the environment by making free choices to go green and make changes as we personally see fit.
Let’s help the needy by volunteering at shelters, clinics, or free unemployment resource centers.
Let’s improve education by spending time with our children, reading to them, and encouraging learning & exploration by example.

Throwing money around by making new laws (and taxes), forcing our citizens to do the above moral choices (through government interference), or further socializing these issues is not going to make the changes we so desire in America.

“You give a hungry man a fish and he is fed for today. Teach a man to fish and you feed him for a lifetime.”
… & this is why capitalism works; Socialism does not. When will people realize that the money they pay in taxes is less than the goods and services they receive back from the government?

Honestly, I’m terrified. Each day I read something crazier about more government involvement in citizen’s personal lives. It’s like we’re living in a 1984-ish nightmare that threatens thought control, taxation until poverty, redistribution of wealth, government interference in your health issues, extreme gun registration monitoring, defense cutbacks, and disgustingly crooked politicians running this country. We claim to be the richest, most powerful country in the world, with a debt (mostly to China & Russia) of $11,793,923,653,560.23 (as of yesterday @ 0342).

Wake me up?

  1. Wow what a great costume! Har Har. And we can move to New York together and live in a tiny 12×12 studio apartment for 1,000’s of dollars. But seriously, that would be cool if we all ended up in NYC. Here’s hoping for NYU.

  2. uhm… clingyness is annoying. & any strange, exaggerate change tends to be a not-so-good sign. Maybe he’s having trouble coming to terms with you moving? You’ve pretty much always been there.

  3. I’m torn about seeing “Doom.” It’s my all-time favorite computer game, but I just don’t know if it will be as much fun to watch without all the interactive demon-killing.

  4. Can I just quote everything you say on a regular basis? You and I have the same view on damn near everything but you actually sound good when you state your thoughts, whereas I come off like a raving lunatic.
